  1. Way Cool! I need more gutts.... or 'entrails' I guess. I am now inspired to make scarier stuff! Good job!

  2. thanks heaps, glad you both like them. Gloria, i think my favourite part about making groundbreaker is the guts. They are made of tissues rolled up and soaked in white glue, water and paint. I then painted them withh clear gloss so they look all sticky and icky. Rot, so happy to have your seal of approval. Thanks .

  3. Nice looking ground breakers Marrow! So how exactly do you make your heads for these???

  4. Thanks! The heads are made the spookyblue method. I spray a skull with WD40, then paper mache over the whole thing. Once it has dried I make some incisions with a craft-knife and pry off the newspaper layer, then stuff the skull very tight with little bits of newspaper. Here is a tutorial that you may or may not have seen already. http://spookyblue.com/halloween/skulls/paper-mache-skull.htm

I've also come up with a technique to make nice deep eye sockets. Unfortunately I hadn't invented it when I made the groundbreakers or the witch, but it is used on my Wind Ghost, Santa Claws and my upcoming project. Once I have demolded the skull I completely cut out the eye sockets. I then snip a toilet paper tube in half (to make two smaller cylinders) and secure each half to the inside of the head, where the eye sockets were. They look much deeper and blacker once the whole thing is done and painted. Hope some of these photos give you an idea of how I made my monsters. http://www.flickr.com/photos/57154753@N06/sets/72157625592470301/
