Blog Evolution

I created this blog back in September of 2010. I was going for an 'earthy' brown and black color scheme.
Even the actual blog text was brown. A weird sickly yellowish brown. I still cringe when I think about it.

In May 2011, I (very) briefly tried a new red and black look, with a new header.
I experimented using different colored borders on it, but it still didn't work. It was gone within an hour, and I returned the old look.

In September of 2011, I changed the header and colors for good.
While my sister commented on the font used being 'boring' (apparently 'Garamond' looks like 'Times New Roman'), I felt very much satisfied with the new, more sophisticated look.

Time passed and eventually I got bored of the header. The sideways left eye started to look strange and tacky. I wanted something new. Something exciting. If you're reading this you've probably already noticed the 'something new and exciting' about The House Of Marrow. If not, look for the huge rotting pumpkin that's currently taking up half of your screen. It shouldn't be hard to spot.

  1. I really like the new header image, but if you're open to suggestions, I can only see the stem of the pumpkin when it first loads. I wonder if cropping it vertically so more of the pumpkin is visible right away would give it more impact.

I really like how the content of the blog is spilling out of the mouth.

  2. It's like re-decorating a house - sometimes a blog needs to be re-done, too! I like the giant rotting pumpkin. The green is especially nice!

  4. Thanks all!

James, I know what you mean. I've been considering cropping the image, so that it has more impact when you first open the page. I'm not sure where I'd put the title if I did that.

I'll play around with it this afternoon.

  7. Thanks!

I changed my profile picture to the rotting pumpkin as well. On 'Picasa Web Albums', whilst cleaning up duplicate pictures and unused ones, I decided to delete my old profile picture.

BAD idea. Now all my comments I have posted on every blog (including this one) before this week have a little black error symbol where the old profile pic should be. And there's nothing I can do about it.

I'm absolutely obsessed with Pumpkinrot's work. Probably his #1 fanboy. I can't get enough of it.
